  18. The Ramsey FTR-146 and the FX-440 use the same audio and squelch set up, which
  19. pops and clicks very loudly as it goes in and out of squelch. The fix I've come
  20. up with softens the squelch control voltage transitions and mutes to a great
  21. degree the objectionable popping.
  22.   1) break the land pattern from Q6 to pin #1 of U2 (FX-440) and bridge with
  23. a 1K ohm resistor.
  24.   2) parallel c-48 on wire side with a 2.2 uf cap.
  25. Try it you might like it.
